My gosh, ya’ll. This engagement session might be my favorite of all time. And that’s saying something since shooting engagements is one of the best parts of my job.
I think Sydney is probably the most beautiful city in the world and it’s one of my favorite places to just walk around and be present, feeling happy and always like my best self. Sure, I don’t pay rent there, so I am probably seeing the city through rosy-colored visitor glasses, but the city has never showed me a bad time. Grabbing a coffee, eating overpriced avocado toast, shopping in different neighborhoods, and exploring beaches and epic parkland makes my heart swell, my feet bounce and my bank account shrink. AND I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT.
I wish I could go more often, but I tend to only make time when I am flying in and out of Australia, usually on my way back home to Texas. So, when Sydney-siders Katya and Nikolai booked me to shoot their wedding, I jumped at the opportunity to meet with them in person and shoot their complimentary engagement session when I was flying through the city earlier this year.
Complimentary engagements sessions range from 30 mins to an hour, but this particular one stretched blissfully on and and on as we walked to the Sydney Opera House by way of the Royal Botanical Gardens. Katya and Nikolai were relaxed in front of the camera, despite their reassurances that they had no clue what they are doing. These kids were naturals and with the setting Sydney sun behind them, we made magic. Then as night crawled over the city and the weather got chilly, this fun-loving, giggly couple invited me for an epic cocktail at Bennelong where we chatted away about their big day, which will be in Canberra- an Aussie city I’ve never been to. Hell yes, for more adventures!
Hope everyone loves these as much as I loved taking them. Catch ya in Canberra you two! xo
